2019 is indeed Jennifer Lopez's golden year. After recently getting engaged to former baseball star Alex Rodriguez after two years of dating, being nominated in the Film Independent Spirit Awards, and being recently chosen as the brand ambassador of Coach, the 50-year old Puerto Rican superstar has just received a Golden Globes nomination for the first time in 20 years for her role as Ramona in Hustlers, according to an article by PopSugar.

In an Instagram video, Lopez on Monday gave an emotional thank you speech to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her best supporting actress nomination.

"I am humbled and so excited to be recognized for this role," said Lopez.

It can be recalled that Lopez's last Golden Globes nomination was for her stellar performance as the leading star in Selena, a 1997 biographical film about the late Mexican-American icon Selena Quintanilla.

Lopez also captioned the video, "Could not be prouder to be recognized by the #HFPA. Ramona was a complicated character and it was an honor and challenge to bring her to life. Hustlers was a labor of love, sweat and perseverance written, directed, produced, edited and starring a group of bad-ass women. I am proud and honored to represent them and this film!!!"

The Golden Globe Awards on is set on January 5, 2020, while the Film Independent Spirit Awards will be staged on February 8.

In a report by Latin Post, aside from her current nominations, the veteran actress is also expected to be nominated as best-supporting actress, and eventually win, the Oscar with Hustlers in the 92nd annual Academy Awards in February of 2020.

Lopez's character Ramona leads a crew of former strip club employees in New York City to steal money from Wall Street stock traders and CEOs.

Lopez stars the film alongside Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, and Cardi B. She is also one of the producers of the film through Nuyorican Productions, alongside Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay via their Gloria Sanchez banner.

Meanwhile, in honor of Lopez's Golden Globe nomination, a fan's tweet went viral for urging the passengers on JetBlue to watch 'Hustlers'.

"In honor of JLO's #GoldenGlobes nomination this morning, I WILL make sure everyone watches Hustlers on this flight," tweeted Joseph Longo, a culture writer whose Twitter bio also jokingly says he is one of Lopez's backup dancers.

Longo followed up his original tweet writing, "Hey @JetBlue, there are definitely Oscar voters on this NY to LA flight. Please let me make an announcement!"

The tweet didn't only catch the attention of the plane's pilot, who made an announcement to tell passengers that "Hustlers" was one of their inflight movie options and to help Lopez win an Oscar, it also reached the Latina superstar herself.

"This is amazing!!!!!!! You can be my backup dancer any day. THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT!" Lopez replied to his tweet.

Her fans can also look forward to more of Lopez in 2020. She will be performing with her fellow Latina artist Shakira on February 2, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami during the Superbowl Halftime Show, as reported by Daily Mail UK.
