CMT Awards Show Winners: Carrie Underwood Reigns on top With Video of the Year for 'See You Again'
Country music star Carrie Underwood is continuing her CMT winning streak with her fifth consecutive Video of the Year win at the CMT awards on Wednesday night, according to CNN.
The NY Daily News reports that Underwood's Video of the Year win was for her "See You Again" music video. Underwood also reigns on top as CMT's top overall winner with eleven awards throughout her career.
"It's really hard to believe," Underwood said on stage as she accepted her award. "I've been doing this for nine years but every single second of those nine years you guys have been amazing."
Before her heartfelt speech following her win, Underwood teamed up with fellow country singer Miranda Lambert to perform their feisty duet "Somethin' Bad."
Underwood wasn't the only big winner of the night. Lambert's husband, Blake Shelton, won in the best male category for "Doin' What She Likes."
Later on in the night proved to be a sentimental moment for Shelton as he presented his "The Voice" protégé Cassadee Pope with the award of Breakthrough Video of the Year for her song, "Wasting All these Tears."
Upon accepting the award, Pope asked Shelton, "What do I do?"
Shelton playfully teased, "Still coaching you."
CNN reports that the other winners of the night included, Florida Georgia Line, who won duo of the year for "Round Here" and collaborative video of the year with Luke Bryan for "This Is How We Roll." Bryan and Lionel Richie also won the CMT performance of the year awards for "Oh No/All Night Long."
The CMT awards were held in Nashville and featured Kristen Bell as this year's host.
