Adele Movie 2013: Grammy Award-Winning Singer To Star in British Spy Film
Grammy Award-winning singer Adele is about to take on a new challenge, starring in her very first movie. As for her role...Well, let's just say, she isn't one of the good guys.
According to reports, the singer will be joining the cast of The Secret Service, "a British spy flick based on a graphic novel by Kick- Ass' Mark Millar," according to Entertainment Wise. The report says the film will be helmed by X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, and will star Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Firth.
"Adele is exactly what Matthew is looking for," a source confirms, The Sun reported Sunday. The source also added that Adele would be playing the "bad girl."
According to My Daily UK, the film will also star David Beckham and Elton John who will also play villains opposed to Firth, a spy who wants to train his nephew to be spy as well.
"He wants the highest-profile names in various fields to boost the film's cause and turn it into a mega-money franchise," the source noted. "You can't get much bigger than Adele in music, which is why he's so keen to get her involved. She'll be great value on the big screen."
This, however, is not the first time the "Someone Like You" singer will be performing in an acting stint. In 2009, Adele made a cameo on the TV series Ugly Betty.
The singer also won an Academy Award even before her first film and debut onscreen. Adele sang the theme song for the most recent James Bond film "Skyfall" which won her an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Adele's reps have yet to confirm or deny the reports.
The Secret Service is expected to start filming before the end of the year and be released some time in 2014.
