Dating a Latina 101: 5 Tips to Respectfully Flirt With a Latina
One of the reasons why men love a Latina is because of their beauty and curves. But did you know that it can somehow insult a Latina as it could seem that you want to be with her not because of love, but because of lust.
There are different ways to flirt with a Latina. In this article, we will share with you five ways based on everyday feminism that you can respectfully flirt with a Latina. Remember, most of their family members are conservative, and her brothers, uncles, and cousins are highly protective.
1. Do not connect them to any Latino or Latina you already know
Latinas usually come from a big family, but it does not give you an assumption that everyone who has the same family name as with her is biologically related to her. For example, if you are flirting a Latina with a family name of Camacho do not ever ask her if she is related to the wrestler Macho Camacho. That would probably not end well.
It would sound great to hear that they are related to a famous personality, but the fact is it is a big insult for them because it seems that you are stereotyping the Latinas. Always remember that Latinas come from a wide range of demographics!
2. Do not ask them where they are from originally
Asking questions to a Latina like where are they from is a big insult. Though the question is harmless, it is a red flag for a Latina because you are making them feel like someone who may not belong in your country. Sometimes a Latina is not recognized based on her physical feature based on media described them but once men knew that she is a Latina they then assumed she could be a Cuban or a Dominica.
However, asking this question could seem like you see her as an immigrant. Instead of asking these questions, you may ask them where did they live in the past or where they feel to be at home. With these, you can have a good discussion.
3. When you find out she is a Latina, do not ever tell her that she doesn't seem to act like one
Most people assume that Latinas are all the same when it comes to physical features. However, some are both black and Latina. The problem arises of you tell a black Latina that she seems not to fit as a Latina because of her skin tone. It is again a red flag.
If you tell this to a Latina they feel like they are judged and stereotyped. Instead of telling this to her, you can ask them what Latina means to them and how do they connect with that aspect of their identity. By starting to ask them questions like that, you will learn more about Latinas.
4. Don't assume that they speak Spanish or will teach you how to dance
The assumption that all Latinas speak in Spanish and will teach you on to dance is another red flag. Remember, Latinas have been in the states years already or most of them were born in the United States. Sometimes a Latina felt insulted because if she can't speak in Spanish she is asked to teach them in dancing Salsa or some Latin dance.
Asking them to speak in Spanish and teach them how to dance is making them feel that they are exotic, an immigrant, or an alien in the country. The fact is, most of the Latinas do not speak in Spanish and they do not dance Salsa or any Latin dance. The best way to do if you want them to speak in Spanish is to tell them to speak in a language where they feel they are comfortable with.
5. Do not assume that their values and beliefs are directly connected to their Latinidad
When it is true that most of the Latina has strong family values and Roman Catholic, it is not good to assume that there is a need for them to marry as soon as possible and will have kids as six or more. The problem is most men assume that Latinas are hyper fertile and this is downright dangerous.
You have to remember that Latinos come from different country hence they have different beliefs, religions, traditions, customs, and more. If you want to know about them, just ask. There is nothing wrong asking about it but don't just assume.
