From Garage to Apartment: Hardworking Latina Mom's Efforts Paid Off After 7 Years
There is a significant number of homeless people in the United States of America. In a report by Statista.com in 2018, there are more or less 552, 830 homeless people in the country. The statistics from the past few years involving the total number of homeless people in the US had irrelevantly decreased.
In an article published in September last year, it provided the criteria in determining the instance when a person is declared homeless. It had also provided some important facts regarding homelessness in the US.
Recently, a Latina mom gave her children the best new year's present. She had shown them the new home where they will be living in. In the past, she and her children called a garage their home.
Ana Manzo, the Latina who gave her children a new home. She didn't know that her daughter, Meydi, was recording the entire time as she toured her children in their new home. The video had included her son crying as he was toured in the bedroom of the apartment.
Their family had been saving for a more decent residence for more than seven-year. Meydi decided to record on camera their family's most awaited moment after years of saving up and hard work.
According to the caption of Meydi Manzano in the video, their family had lived for more than seven years in a garage because it was the only place that her Latina mom can afford.
The video that Meydi had posted on social media had gained more than four million views. Meydi and her mother expected a positive reaction from Meydi's brother but they were shocked to see him in tears. Upon their family's entry into a one-bedroom apartment, her brother immediately burst into tears. In the video, it was captured that Meydi's brother was drying his tears with his shirt's sleeves as his mom hugs him.
There were lots of positive comments from the online community after watching the viral video.
One member of the online community who had admired the video post of Meydi on social media said that when she was just a kid, she had lived in a tiny room where she lived with her three siblings and her parents. The experience made her value humility and to persevere to have a better life in the future.
According to a social media post by Meydi, after their video got viral, she shared that she was shocked to find out that their video had reached so many views. She also expressed her gratitude to everyone who had given good reactions to the video. She also said that her brother had also read the comments of the people and that he was happy that their video got viral.
Meydi shared that her experience living in a garage had taught her to be grateful and appreciative of everything that they have. In the simplest sense, she said that even though they are not that given a more privileged life than others, she is happy that she has her Latina mom and brother.
