Mexico's Most Active Volcano Erupts Violently, See Actual Footage Here
Mexico's National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) caught the explosion of the volcano on video as seen below.
The volcano is located 40 miles southeast of Mexico City. Meanwhile, officials said that no one was hurt after the volcano erupted and there are no reports yet as to the gravity of the damaged properties.
However, despite the report that no one was hurt, the CENAPRED still set the warning at the "yellow phase," which means that there is no imminent danger in the meantime. The center reminded everyone not to get closer to the volcano especially in its crater because of the falling ballistic fragments which are even more hazardous.
The name of the volcano has a deep historical background. The indigenous named it "smoky mountain". The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration posted on their twitter account that their satellite has detected sulfur dioxide in the plume.
David Leon Romero, head of the civil protection, said that they followed the activity of the volcano before it erupted. The eruption of the volcano was mostly quiet and it was accompanied by water, gas, and light amount of ash.
Popocatépetl is the second-highest volcano in North America. Moreover, the volcano is monitored by more than 20 specialized devices and is monitored 24 hours to monitor its activity. It can be recalled that the volcano has erupted twice in July.
The ash can be spotted miles away from the location of the volcano. The ash can be seen in nearby cities and towns like Puebla, Mexico. The ash was photographed and captured not only by the center but also by people living around the nearby cities. It created a towering column of ash and smoke.
People living around the nearby cities are reminded to keep updated on the situation of the volcano to avoid further damage though no reports of casualties, injuries, and damage of properties yet.
Everyone is also reminded to keep updated on the warning signs from Mexico's National Center for Disaster Prevention. It is also recommended to confirm any news posted on any social networking sites to avoid fake news that would lead to panick.
The best way right now to know more about the activity of the volcano is to follow the center's social networking sites.
However, people are reminded to prepare basic needs and first aid kits if there will be a further and unexpected volcanic eruption. It is better to prepare yourself and your family in any unpredicted natural calamities such as this.
The volcano is 17,700 feet and is the second-highest in North America. The center has been monitoring the activity of the volcano since it erupted twice in July 2019.
