Latina artists, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, did not receive a cent for their Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, according to an article by Remezcla.

Shakira and J.Lo gave a breathtaking performance during the event. They took the stage for nearly 15 minutes, singing at least 10 of their most popular songs.

During that time, they conquered the stage accompanied by countless dancers. Their time on stage showcased their immense Latino pride. The artists' representation of the Latino community made their performance worth remembering.

In the past, other big stars were privileged to perform on a similar global stage such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga. They too did not receive any remuneration for their performance.

So Who Pays for the Expenses of the Performance?

Come to find out, the National Football League (NFL) covers all costs necessary for the event. The performers' compensation is through payment for the expenses needed to make their performance happen. This includes their wardrobe.

During the performance, Shakira wore knee-high boots that were decorated with 30,000 hand-placed crystals.

Jennifer Lopez's sparkly silver unitard from Versace made her performance-ready.

Shakira and J.Lo's outfits were included in the event's cost in which the NFL paid for.

Career Boost from Super Bowl Halftime Gigs

Despite the nonpayment for artists' halftime performances at the Super Bowl, they do receive indirect remunerations, especially in their careers. Maroon 5's halftime performance allowed their album's sales to escalate by an impressive 434 percent.

Aside from the artists' album sales boost, opportunities, such as new partnerships, also open up for the performers. For example, Jennifer Lopez's commercial offer from Hard Rock Café, earned her a good amount of money.

The major advantage of taking the halftime performance gig at the Super Bowl is the added global recognition and every celebrities favorite, free publicity.

Regardless of the the fact that viewership has declined in the past few years, the Superbowl's halftime performances still pack a good number of fans. On average, there are at least 100 million worldwide viewers of the halftime performances.

Bad Bunny and J Balvin were the guests of honor of the event. The two are more than likely aware of the benefits and opportunities performing at the Super Bowl offers to celebrities. They definitely used the opportunity to their advantage. Balvin brought his Jordan x Colores collaboration to improve the performance of his album. It was reported that Balvin's album sales had been declining this month.
