New Emojis Represent Latinx Culture, and We're All For It

It was announced over the weekend that more than 100 emojis will be made available on Apple devices for 2020. Some of the emojis are Latino-themed, such as the tamale emoji.

Apple Devices will get the 117 New Emoji Later in the Year

In the later parts of the year, Apple products will be receiving the 117 new emojis alongside their operating system updates.

The update will boast new emojis for animals, household items, and a variety of foods.

The animals expected to have an emoji version are cockroaches and seals. Additionally, new food emojis like the flatbread and bubble tea will also have an emoji version. The toothbrush is also the inspiration for one of the upcoming emojis.

Newly-Approved Emojis for This Year

Through the website Emojipedia, 117 emojis are reported to be made available to the public throughout the year.

Some of these new emojis are Mrs. Claus, Mx. Claus, a bell pepper, fondue, and the Latin-themed emoji, the piñata.

The piñata emoji is revealed to have the shape of a donkey. Prepare those humorous piñata related puns because this emoji will be hitting mobile devices very soon.

Latino-themed Emojis

By the end of the first half of the year, mobile device owners can start to enjoy the use of the tamale emoji.

As one of the well-known Latino dishes in the world, the Tamale emoji will be available for use in conversation. Whether for cravings or expressions of support to the Latino community, this Latino-themed emoji will become the go-to emoji.

Gender-Neutral Emojis

The Christmas-themed emojis will not be the only ones that will be having gender-neutral versions.

The new emojis will also include a woman wearing a tuxedo, a man wearing a bride's veil, and a gender-neutral person giving as baby milk or food. These emojis will also be available in different skin colors.

The Emojipedia officially announced the 13.0 latest emoji version in the previous week. The announcement was published by the Unicode Consortium.

How are these Emojis Created?

According to an article on the Mitu website, Every year new emojis are added to the Unicode standard. New emojis are proposed by multiple companies such as Google, Twitter, and Apple. The group of suggestions is later finalized at the start of the following year. This will give these companies enough time to read their users' devices for the update.

Debut of the Emojis

A decade ago, the Unicode Consortium issued 722 different emoji designs. This event started the annual development of Emojis. Additionally, the word 'emoji' was named as the Word of the Year by Oxford Dictionaries in 2015. Also, on July 17, World Emoji Day is celebrated.

The Emoji's Transformation into a Widely-used Language

According to the Fisher website, emojis had evolved to become a language of the modern generation.

Every day, almost 5 million emojis are sent through the Facebook Messenger app alone.

In the present, emojis are becoming useful in unconventional situations. There are incidents where a court judge in the UK use emojis. It used emojis in a court document to allow children to better interpret the decisions of the court.
