United Airlines Racist Passenger: Woman Arrested for Reportedly Telling Woman 'I Kill White People'
Lashonda Lee Williams, 43, was charged with assault after she allegedly told a fellow passenger on a United Airlines flight, "I kill white people like you."
According to a court affidavit obtained by Huffington Post, on Sunday Williams was asked to turn off her cell phone shortly after takeoff during a flight from Nashville, heading to Houston. She had been using an app to help her find one of her smartphones when the passenger seated next decided to chime in.
"She said you need to put your phone away," Williams told KHOU. "And I said look lady, you don't know me. I don't know you. Could you please just say nothing to me? I just lost my phone."
As a result, "She said you're such a b*tch," Williams said. "I said you're a b*tch too."
In response, Williams allegedly snapped back saying, "I kill white people like you."
An affidavit states that the woman feared for her safety and accuses Williams of threatening to follow her once the flight landed in order to find out where she lived.
The next thing Williams knows the plane returned to Nashville shortly after takeoff. When the flight landed, the police escorted her into the main terminal, and Williams was arrested and charged with assault. According to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, Williams was released Sunday night on a $3,000 bond.
Williams said that the woman is making the whole story up.
"I told them I did not say that," Williams said. "I would never say anything along those lines."
"I cannot believe for the life of me that she would make up something like that."
Later on this month, Williams is scheduled to return to Nashville to face a judge on June 25.
