Selena's 25th Anniversary to be Celebrated by Latino Artists in San Antonio
The family of Selena Quintanilla and its entertainment company Q Productions announced on Tuesday that there will be a celebration of Selena's Legacy after 25 years as a tribute to her contribution to Latin music and the industry. The concert will be joined by big Latino stars which will be held on May 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
To honor her life and legacy in the music industry, the major concert entitled "Selena XXV - Veinticinco Años" . The concert is intended to showcase not only her life and legacy but also her influence on current Latino music.
Suzette Quintanilla, sister of Selena and the CEO and President of Q Productions Entertainment, said in a statement to a news outlet that "Over the past 25 years, her influence and relevance has only grown through the generations."
Meanwhile, her father said through a phone interview in January that the two-day music festival, Fiesta de la Flor, honoring the Queen of Cumbia was the last one. It will not take place this year due to a financial dispute with the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Fiesta de la Flor lasted for five years and it has impacted Selena's legacy as it drew people from all over the world to Corpus Christi for a weekend celebration. When Selena's father was asked if it is possible to have the Fiesta de la Flor in the future or have it in another city, her father said that it is.
Moreover, Selena's sister continued that their father Abraham Quintanilla Jr. taught them to persevere despite adversities and to work hard in achieving their dreams. This what helped also Selena to leave a legacy alongside her amazing talent in music and her ability to connect with people. - Ricardo Castillón, singer and former leader of La Diferenzia
- Former Fifth Harmony member and singer Ally Brooke
- Isabel Marie, who performed Selena songs during other concerts together with the San Antonio Symphony and The Lab.
