Tesla Donates $1.25 Million to Nevada Museum of Art
Tesla, an automotive and a green power company owned by Elon Musk, is going to donate an amount of $1.25 million to Nevada Museum of Arts, according to The Art News Paper.
Tesla has been doing charitable works by donating millions of money in different organizations that explore research, science and engineering education, renewable energy, and more. But this time, his company will be donating $1.25 million to boost the art education program of the Nevada Museum of Arts.
The donation of Tesla will roll out over the next four years. The partnership of Tesla and the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno will greatly help more than 8,000 students ranging from kindergarten to Grade 12. This will also help to strengthen the museum's arts education program curriculum intended for its students.
In an interview, the Chief Executive of the Museum David Walker said that they are thrilled with the significant relationship with Tesla because the automotive and green power company understands that to build a sustainable workforce in Nevada, they need to employ interdisciplinary strategies in the classroom. With the amount given to the school of arts, the museum can now maximize its teaching methodologies in improving the skill of the students and producing high-quality output.
According to a spokesperson of the museum, Tesla and Nevada Museum first forged their relationship way back in 2014 where it led to a more substantive multi-year of relationship. Tesla also sponsored the museum's current art exhibition named "Where Art and Tech Collide." This art exhibit includes the works of Kal Spelletich, Leo Villareal, and Trevor Paglen that will run until June 21.
Moreover, aside from this exhibit, Tesla has committed also to sponsor its next event in its annual Nevada Steam Conference. This is an annual event of the museum that aims to discuss how to improve the arts or output of students into the existing curriculum of the state. In this way, they can better facilitate learning to the students and explore new strategies and methodologies that will increase students' performance in producing a highly valued piece of art.
The educational initiative of the museum is very wide. It is not only inclusive to students, but they also have training and seminars for the teachers and professors seeking professional development and integrate or incorporate visual arts into the curriculum.
Tesla and the Nevada museum have an aligning philosophy "Creative, design-based thinking is foundational to educating 'the whole student'."
The long-term partnership of Tesla and Nevada museum since 2014 has seen very significant because it did not only help the students but it also helped the state in general. The donation that will roll out in over the next four years means a continuation of the company's support in the museum's mission which promotes art in the state.
This also shows that Tesla does not only look after profits, but that they are also willing to help communities that are in dire need of development. It is not known to everyone that Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, has been supporting different groups for years by donating millions of dollars.
