Grand Princess Cruise Ship Will Dock in California
The cruise ship hit by coronavirus will be docking Monday despite having numerous people test positive for the virus. The ship will reportedly be docking at the Port of Oakland.
Authorities will allow guests to leave the ship after staying off the coast of California since Thursday. All American passengers from the ship, including the 19 crew members and two passengers infected by COVID-19, will be whisked away to military bases to be quarantined for 14 days.
Governor Gavin Newsom assured the public none of the passengers will be allowed to come in close contact with the general population after disembarking the ship.
Health officials from the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will screen passengers after the ship docks.
California residents will stay at the Travis Air Force Base or Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Residents of other states will be taken to Texas or Georgia. International guests will be provided charter flights.
