It is the unofficial start of the summer with a tentpole of blockbuster hits such as, "Godzilla" and "Maleficent," but it also marks the release of two new trailers this week: "The November Man" starring Pierce Brosnan and "The Book of Life" produced by Guillermo del Toro.

In the Brosnan produced film "The November Man," it looks like "James Bond" light. After seeing Brosnan play 007 for seven years in four films, it is hard not seeing him as the former Bond. In any case, this film is based off the spy thriller novel "There Are No Spies," written by Bill Granger.

Former CIA operative, Peter Devereaux, is brought back on a very personal mission. But he soon finds himself put against his former pupil and in a deadly game with high-level CIA officials and the Russian president-elect.

On the other hand, for more family fare, there is del Toro's produced "The Book of Life" with a Latino star-studded cast: Diego Luna ("Y Tu Mamá También" "The Terminal"), Zoe Saldana ("Star Trek" "The Terminal"), Danny Trejo ("Machete Kills"), Hector Elizondo ("Chicago Hope"), Cheech Marin ("From Dusk Until Dawn") and Channing Tatum ("White House Down" "G.I. Joe").

This animated feature is somewhat of a reunion for Luna and Saldana -- at least their voices. The pair both co-starred alongside Tom Hanks in "The Terminal."

"The Book of Life" centers around life, love, journey and memories. It is a journey for Manolo, voiced by Luna, a young man who gets caught up in a wager of life and death. Unbeknownst to him he is the product of a terrible mistake. Rather than wallow in self pity, he is forced to embark on an adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. At the central Latin core, it is the celebration of "El Dia de los Muertos."

Without giving too much away, this is del Toro's usual visually stunning film, but it seems more beautiful in animation.

Brosnan's "The November Man" comes out Aug. 27, and "The Book of Life" comes out Oct. 17.
