The First Movie to Debut Online and in Theatres
The Trolls World Tour will be the first film to be shown online and in theatres on April 10. The movies also showing in theatres currently such as The Invisible Man, The Hunt, and Emma will be made available for rent for 48 hours. This will be available soon on Friday with a suggested price of $19.99.
Normally, movie studios will wait for 90 days after showing a film in theaters before they make it available for home viewing. However, the company decided to allow the film to run online as the movie is shown in theatres.
Where is it Implemented?
Universal decided to make use of this new policy for low-to-mid-tier budgeted movies. The budget used for the Trolls World Tour is half the mentioned figure. Also, Invisible Man had a budget of more or less $7 million and The Hunt with approximately $14 million.
Rescheduling Movie Premieres
On the other hand, the movie F9's premiere was moved from May 2020 to April 2021. The budget of F9 is thought to be in part with its predecessor movie The Fate of the Furious. The Fate of the Furious had costs its creator $250 million and this excludes the cost for marketing the film.

Trolls World Tour
The Trolls World Tour is a sequel of the 2016 animated film Trolls. Since schools from different parts of the United Stated are closed due to the coronavirus, people are quarantined inside the four walls of their homes. Due to these events, the Trolls World Tour will not see big crowds in cinemas. There are still many theaters open in the United States. However, the recent COVID-19 pandemic will definitely affect the total number of cinema visitors to watch the new film.
The Strategy to Stream Films Online
Streaming new online movies allows parents to keep their children entertained while still in the confines of their homes and safe from the threats of the COVID-19.
According to Comscore's senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian, the decision to shift to a different distribution strategy for films helpful at providing for their audiences' demands. Also, during these trying times, unconventional steps and innovative taking are important. He said that other industries will also formulate ways to cope with the global shifts due to the COVID-19.
It is still not clear if the demand for the new strategy of streaming online movies will give profitable outcomes for the company. The reason for this is that there will be two ways to earn from the new scheme. One source of income will be from movie theaters and the other one will be online or the home entertainment opportunity of audiences.
