The New Normal After Lockdowns: Face Masks and Preventive Measures
Some states in the U.S. are already planning to reopen businesses. As the coronavirus already resulted in a lot of changes to the country, a new normal will be observed as some states have already partially reopened and some will be reopening businesses soon.
According to a recent article, Georgia and Texas are some of the states that have been already partially reopened some of its businesses. With no official vaccine against the coronavirus, the reopening of many industries will be seeing a new normal, the requirement to wear face masks and other protective equipment against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Since the government and the CDC had advised everyone to wear face coverings, there has been confusion if there is a difference between a face mask and face coverings.
Protection from COVID-19
Do face masks help protect you from getting infected with the novel coronavirus? If the CDC's guidelines against the spread of the deadly SARS-CoV-2 are observed then face mask can be a great tool.
According to an article, when partnered with proper handwashing and social distancing, face masks can help fight the spread of COVID-19.
Also, the article reveals the importance of wearing face masks after scientists found out that there were people who carried the deadly virus without showing any symptoms to the illness. This had led to scientists suggesting that everyone should be wearing masks regardless if they are sick or not.
The Face Masks People Will Be Using
Different types of face masks are currently being used to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. The common ones are the surgical face masks, N95 face masks, and the cloth face masks.
Surgical face masks contain a blue covering on one side and a white covering on the other side. It is effective for preventing sick people from spreading their illness.
N95 face masks are capable of filtering out at least 95 percent of small particles. They can fit tightly on the wearer's face.
Cloth face masks, on the other hand, are ideal for those people who are not working in the frontlines against the novel coronavirus. They can also be made at home with some scrap fabric.
According to the CDC, cloth face masks or face coverings help prevent the spread of the deadly virus that causes COVID-19. They advise people to wear face coverings when going outside their homes such as visiting grocery stores and pharmacies, a place where social distancing guidelines can be difficult to follow.
