Following Justin Bieber's n-word scandal that was brought to light thanks to TMZ, the 20-year-old pop star is seeking repentance for his sins by cleansing and baptizing himself in a New York City bathtub.

So why the bathtub instead of going to an actual church?

According to TMZ, Bieber's first option was a church. But each time he paid a visit to a new church location, his cover was blown, and he could not get the privacy he initially wanted for his baptism.

So instead of getting baptized in a traditional place of worship, the Biebs opted to crash at his friend's house and use his friend's bathtub for the ceremony, Billboard reported.

Prior to his baptism, Bieber spent a week doing intense bible study and going to church services to clear himself of his past wrongdoing, Bieber's pastor, Carl Lentz, said to TMZ.

Now that Bieber has asked for God's forgiveness, it seems that more and more celebrities are coming to his defense and are forgiving him as well.

So far many celebrities, including Usher, Floyd Mayweather and Russell Brand, have all shown support for the pop star.

The Independent reported that Russell Brand defended Bieber last week and blamed Bieber's youth and immaturity as a reason for his racist videos.

"Unless we're going to explicitly say the role of celebrities is we're going to make them really, really famous and then we're going to destroy them and rip them up in a public square with fish hooks, which, you know as long as you don't get round to me, I'm not against," Brand said. "But we might as well own up to it if that is what we're up to, otherwise just let him off. Of course it's wrong to say the 'n-word', but he's a child."
