The World of Warcraft, or WoW, is one of the most popular massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) worldwide. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, WoW joins a multitude of long-running games under the same company that produced the Diablo series and fan-favorite Starcraft.

On July 8, Blizzard Entertainment held a reveal event for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. The latest installation is to become the eighth major expansion pack. Here are the things you can grind for before the upcoming expansion is released.

Leveling up an alternate character.

If you're into the player versus environment (PvE) or player versus player (PvP) aspect of the game, you can change things up by choosing and leveling another character of a different class.

Having alternate accounts or characters may give you the advantage in the upcoming expansion, where classes are expected to carry new features. Exploring different builds for your class might lead you to discover better combinations.

Different PvE and PvP contents are removed in Shadowlands.

Players who want a different experience that is not offered in the PvE aspects of the game could try their hand at battling real players in PvP combat. Join the Battlegrounds or Arena Skirmishes to try out fast-paced gameplay where your decisions could bring success or destruction

However, if you enjoy lores and stories, you can try PvE. Playing raids in the Mythic or Mythic+ difficulty can open pathways for you to earn the new seasonal affix called Awakened.

Additionally, N'zoth, the Corruptor, will be removed in the upcoming expansion. The achievement "Battle for Azeroth Keystone Master: Season Four" will be unobtainable with the Shadowlands pre-patch's start.

Old World Content

There are different kinds of content in the World of Warcraft that have become useless as the developer released more expansions. A community called XPOff is still conducting old-world raids such as those found in the Battle of Azeroth expansion pack. The group also revisit old maps to relive the experience of the early years of WoW.

WoW Classic

Besides Old World Content, if you're interested in experiencing the first few years of WoW, you can play World of Warcraft: Classic. The classics were more focused on community and the journey to max out your level. However, the early releases had minimal end-game content. If you've decided to play World of Warcraft: Classic, read Classic Preparation Guide to know what realm to choose and what classes you want to start with on your adventure.

The Glory of the Raider

You can also try to get the Raider's Glory achievements to give you free mounts and achievements points. The Glory of the Raider achievement requires a group of people to join together in taking down raid bosses.

Battle Pets

WoW's Battle Pets system lets you challenge other players. The fights would require your pets to go head-to-head against your opponent's. The Battle Pets system also helps players complete the Legendary Battle Pets World Quests that would raise your reputation gains with other factions.
