Latin Artists' Good Deeds to People Who are in Need During COVID-19 Pandemic
Latin artists such as Carla Morrison, Ricky Martin, and Marc Anthony have proven their kindness as they provided aid to the communities around the world amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Celebrities are not exempted from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are also obliged to self-quarantine to flatten the curve and reduce the outbreak.
However, Latin artists share what they have to lighten at least the burden of those in need. Here are the artists and their help amid the global crisis.
Anuel AA
Anuel AA's grandparents tested positive for COVID-19. Upon receiving the news, Anuel decided to make donations to families dealing with the same situation as her to her grandparents.
Anuel said on his Instagram story that all sales of his album, merch, and music videos for the month will go to a foundation to help patients and families who are fighting COVID-19. The Latin artist from Puerto Rico advised that he is organizing everything to share further information soon. Anuel is working with his team to build the donations.
Natti Natasha
Coordinating with Major League Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez and the Pedro Martinez Foundation, Natti Natasha delivered food to struggling families in the Dominican Republic. Meals were distributed to families in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Natasha's hometown.
The singer and the Pedro Martinez Foundation plans to expand donation efforts that will benefit multiple cities in the Dominican Republic.
Prince Royce
According to Billboard, Prince Royce is selling face masks inspired by his "Alter Ego" album. The new merch he is selling is to support families who are in need in the Bronx. At $15 each, the face mask has three designs, including a mask with a zipper.
Hundred percent of the earnings will be generated as a donation to the Niño de la Caridad Foundation. This foundation is nonprofit and dedicated to empowering and improving the quality of the lives of children in the Bronx who was founded by Somos Community Care Pediatric Doctor Denise Nuñez.
Gloria Trevi
The Latin pop star teamed up with the Mexican artisans for a set of special edition masks. Gloria Trevi designed the masks which are inspired by her seven most emblematic songs. Each mask costs $15 that aims to collect proceeds for Trevi's nonprofit foundation, ANA DALAI. Trevis took to her Instagram to show the mask she wears, expressing, "During these moments, where we are all too fragile, take care of yourself and others."
Kany Garcia
Kany Garcia teamed up with True Self Foundation to encourage fans to make donations for those who are in need during the global health crisis. The True Self Foundation is a local nonprofit organization that provides services to the LGBT+ community in Puerto Rico.
In an Instagram video, Garcia said that the trans community in Latin America and Puerto Rico is judged when searching for jobs. Many of these trans are looking for employment in street and are not only jobless, but they either don't have anything to eat.
The singer-songwriter explained that there are two ways to make donations: through ATH Movil, second is through PayPal for the donors from outside of Puerto Rico.
Ricky Martin
Ricky Martin launched a new campaign to help healthcare workers continuously fight the pandemic through the nonprofit organization "Project Hope." The organization work with local communities to determine the additional needs that the organization can support.
Pablo Alborán
Pablo Alborán released a heartwarming song "Cuando Estes Aquí" (When You Are Here) that has a message of hope amidst the global health crisis. All proceeds from "Cuando Estes Aquí" (When You Are Here) will go to UNICEF to combat COVID-19.
Carla Morrison
Working with a thrift store GoTrendier, Carla Morrison aims to raise money for music workers and help them financially during the pandemic. The singer-songwriter's outfits will be sold, and 100% of the purchase will go to workers who have no source of finances at the moment due to canceled shows and tours.
La Doña
La Doña is working with CALMA and Mission Meals to get her vinyl album, which has a percentage of the proceeds to go to the foundations. La Doña also thinks of making a live stream concert to raise money and donate it to help the foundations.
Carlos Vives & Ruben Blades
The collaboration of Carlos Vives and Ruben Blades in "No Estás Solo" is a useful purpose. All proceeds will be donated to two charities. Blades wants to give his earnings to the Tral La Perla to assist the residents of the Pescaito barrio in Blades' hometown, Santa Marta, Columbia.
Marc Anthony
SOMOS Care of Marc Anthony is in partnership with World Central Kitchen, Maestro Cares, and chef Jose Andres to distribute more than 1,000 meals to doctors, nurses, patients, and the community, which was hard hit by the COVID-19 outbreak in Washington Heights, NY.
Athletes and Musicians in Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has a coalition of nonprofits that encourage artists and athletes to donate and help fight COVID-19 pandemic. Correa Family Foundation, Carlos Correa's and family's nonprofit foundation, has the initiative together with JAKE Entertainment to garner support from artists like Kany Garcia, Pedro Capo, Tommy Torres, Yandel, and Bad Bunny.
Like Carlos Correa, Eddie Rosario, Martín "Machete" Maldonado, and Christian Vázquez also helped. The efforts ave acquired 6,000 gallons of hospital disinfectants, 400,000 N95 masks, and other equipment.
