Ed Sheeran to Quit Touring When He Becomes a Dad
Ed Sheeran will become a dad soon and could quit touring after he promised his wife, Cherry Seaborn, to give up playing live when they have children.
The dad-to-be previously told Good Morning Britain that he wanted to focus on being a husband and a father to his family rather than jetting around the world to play music.
The Sun recently revealed that Sheeran and his wife are expecting a baby this summer, and they were overjoyed at the good news.
The singer-songwriter and his wife's announcement of having a baby came after Sheeran announced a break from music last Christmas following two and a half years on the road.
Sheeran's friends said that he decided to give time to good use and start a family with Cherry, who's in the final stage of her pregnancy. But the good news could mean an end to his fans' devotion to see the singer on stage.
A source told The Sun that Sheeran and Seaborn are over the moon, but the couple wants to keep things very low-key. The soon-to-be parents are at their Suffolk home, as per the source.
"Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer, and the excitement has been building, so they have started telling friends and family," the source went on.
The source added that Sheeran and Seaborn are making the last preparations at home as they expect to have a baby in summer. Their families are all delighted for the couple and are excited to meet the baby.
As per The Sun, Sheeran always appreciates his wife, who works in the accounting giant Deloitte, for keeping the singer grounded. Sheeran and Seaborn are high school friends and classmates who started dating in 2015.
The couple announced their engagement in January 2018 via an Instagram snap, as per Daily Mail.
"Got me a fiancé just before the new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well," Sheeran wrote in his post.
In 2017, the "Shape of You" hitmaker already said in his interview with GMB's Richard Arnold that he doesn't want to have tours when he has kids.
Sheeran added: "I want to be like nipping out now and then and being a father, so yeah, I think I would love kids, I would love all the kids in the world, but I don't want to have them right now."
Sheeran said it is his idea of happiness having a multitude of children, living in the countryside, and always having his children and wife beside him.
Sheeran is now worth $260 million and has doubled his wealth because of his two-year "Divide" tour that broke records by U2 and was officially crowned the all-time biggest, most attended, and highest-grossing tour.
