Republicans Are Set to Propose New Stimulus Bill
Republicans are set to propose a new stimulus bill that includes relief aids where the two parties have common grounds to give what millions of Americans need.
Republican lawmakers are set to propose a new stimulus bill to deliver what the millions of Americans need in this time of economic fallout where millions as well lost their source of income. White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows also said that he will continue to negotiate for a new stimulus bill before September ends.
The month of October is the most crucial part for the candidates of Republicans and Democrats. It is a month before the election which is scheduled on November 3. However, September is the most crucial month for millions of Americans because this is the last month of government operation.
This means that any talks between the Republicans and Democrats about the stimulus bill should be discussed before September ends or else millions of Americans will wait for another session which is more likely to start in February next year.
However, Republicans are set to propose a new bill for the second round of the stimulus bill. The senior administration officials and three people who have the knowledge about the new stimulus bill told the news outlet CNBC that Republicans could release as soon as this week the new stimulus bill.
However, the new stimulus bill will only include expanded unemployment insurance, a new authorization of small business loans, and money for schools and COVID-19 testing, treatment, and vaccines. These are the only areas that have bipartisan support.
It is also not clear if the plan includes another direct stimulus checks. Moreover, the Republicans assured that they included unemployment benefits that will help laid-off and unemployed individuals to receive around $300 to $400 per week.
It can be recalled that Pres. Trump signed and issued an executive order that expanded the unemployment benefits after Congress did not act on the second round of the stimulus bill. He mandated the Federal Emergency Management Agency to use its unspent budget for the unemployed individuals across the country.
However, the budget intended for the unemployment claims will only last for three weeks. That is why the Republicans and the White House keep on pushing for the second round of stimulus bill but the top negotiators from the Democrats also continue to reject the offer.
In fact, Meadows challenged the Democratic-dominated Congress to return to the Capitol Hill and discuss on the floor the stimulus bill that will give aid to millions of Americans amid the global pandemic. But, during the rare Saturday vote, Congress voted for the U.S.P.S. funding instead of voting for a bill that will help the countrymen.
Meadows already said that Pres. Trump will immediately sign the bill on the second round of stimulus once it is on his table. Meanwhile, the White House Chief of Staff also tried to communicate and have a meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi but he was told that the Democratic leader was in a meeting.
As much as the Pres. Trump and the Republicans want to help the heavily impacted Americans in the country through another round of stimulus bill, but it will unlikely become law if Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not allow this talk to progress.
