Lebron James, Not Happy with Not Getting NBA MVP
Lebron James expressed his frustration and disappointment for not getting the NBA MVP for the fourth time in his professional basketball career.
Lebron James is not happy for completing second in the NBA MVP balloting for the fourth time in his professional basketball career. He is the key player that brought Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals along with another star player Anthony Davis.
Milwaukee Bucks star player Giannis Antetokounmpo became MVP for the second consecutive season, and James seemed angry while talking about the MVP award with journalists after his team, Los Angeles Lakers, defeated Denver Nuggets during Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
According to a published report in ESPN, James told the reporters "Pissed me off. That's my true answer. It pissed me off, because out of 101 votes, I got 16 first-place votes. That's what pissed me off more than anything," James clarified that he is happy for the winner of the NBA MVP.
However, what pissed him off is that he always finished second in his career. James explained "You know, not saying that the winner wasn't deserving of the MVP. But that pissed me off. And I finished second a lot in my career, either from a championship and now four times as an MVP."
James is a four-time MVP winner. He led the Lakers to the pinnacle seed in the Western Conference this season after his 2018-19 season changed into upended due to an injury. He managed to finish the prolonged normal season averaging 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 10.2 assists. It becomes the first time he averaged 10 assists in his profession, and he was a league-leader in the class.
Lebron James added that he never played and came into the league to become MVP or a champion. He also asserted "I've always just wanted to get better and better every single day, and those things will take care of itself. But some things are just out of my hands and some things you can't control. But it pissed me off."
Lebron James was also puzzled and confused about how and why he was not chosen as the Most Defensive Player of the Year. This season the award went to Toronto Raptors Center Marc Gasol.
James is frustrated because he had the chance to become the Most Defensive Player and at the same time the NBA MVP. If he got the two awards, it will be another milestone for "The King," However, Lebron James just finished second both in the Most Defensive Player and NBA MVP this year.
He also added that doesn't make sense. It's like being MVP of the league, but you make second-team All-NBA. That's when I really started to look at things, kind of like differently. I was like, how does that even make any sense?" He said this due to his frustrations and disappointments.
Meanwhile, there is still a chance for Lebron James to get an MVP title. If Los Angeles Lakers will make it to the finals and will get the championship ring, he could be named the NBA Finals MVP.
