American Murder: 'Ghost' of Christ Watts' Daughter Allegedly Caught on Cam
"American Murder: The Family Next Door" has been one of the most anticipated Netflix documentaries, mostly due to the Watts' family murders' popularity.
Even before the murder case had its Netflix deal, the Watts family case captured the internet's attention even after more than two years have passed.
Viewers have a new other theory after watching the docufilm. Some of those who saw the docufilm said that they saw Chris Watts' daughter's ghost in the background of one scene.
The said scene was reportedly giving some viewers chills, according to a Cafemom article. A Meaww report said the YouTube video posted by an Arthur Cant has reportedly put the supposed ghost in the spotlight.
The said ghost appears on police body-cam footage filmed after Shannan's initial disappearance. Officers looked around the house, who was asking Watts and others about the whereabouts of Shannan. Suddenly, a figure of a small girl can be seen in the back room.
"You can clearly see a little girl," Cant wrote in the video. Others also pointed the light in the room directly across from Watts, turns off by itself at the half-minute mark. This was right before the girl is first seen in the background.
However, others contradicted the said ghost theory. Some viewers claimed that the girl in the background could possibly be the daughter of Watts' family friend.
This was Nickole Atkinson, who was also seen in the clip. Atkinson was the first one to alert the police regarding Shannan's disappearance.
One commentator said there was a police video of Atkinson's daughter outside the house when Watts pulled up to the house. The commentator added that it could be seen that Atkinson's daughter and hair match perfectly to the little girl upstairs.
American Murder True-Crime Documentary
The Watts family murder case happened in 2018, and when Netflix released a docufilm about it, it immediately ranked to the platform's Top 10.
Aside from police footage, the documentary showed social media posts and messages uploaded to the internet or shared by Shannan's family and friends that can be seen in the movie's introduction, according to a Thrillist report.
One scene in the documentary film showed that a neighbor tells an investigation officer that Chris does not seem like himself. Chris underwent a polygraph test, which shows that he was lying. There he confessed to his father.
At first, he tried to pin the murders of their four-year-old daughter Bella and three-year-old Celeste on Shannan. Chris admitted to the murders on Nov. 6, 2018.
However, a death penalty was not imposed at the request of Shannan's family. Shannan's family said they do not want another death to occur.
On Nov. 19, 2018, Chris was sentenced to five life sentences without the possibility of parole. Watts was moved out of state due to safety concerns on Dec. 3, 2018. He was then moved to the Dodge Correctional Institution, which is a maximum-security prison.
