A distracted driver veered off the highway and shot his car in the air. The entire road mishap was caught on camera.

3-2-1...YEEEEEE-HAWWWWWWW!!! Yesterday afternoon, the driver of this sedan was inattentive while traveling northbound SR-99, at Kansas Avenue. The sedan left the roadway and launched several feet into the air. Luckily, the driver only sustained minor injuries. Remember, hands of the steering wheel and mind on the road.

According to reports, California Highway Patrol (CHP) Modesto caught dramatic footage of an inattentive driver veering off the highway in Modesto, California. Luckily, police said the driver only sustain minor injuries.

Fox News reported that the incident was documented on Facebook by the CHP Modesto on Sunday.

On CHP- Modesto page, the footage was posted saying that the driver of the sedan was inattentive while traveling northbound SR-99. The sedan flew off the highway and flew several feet into the air.

The officials also gave a reminder to keep hands on the steering wheel and focus on the road. The incident happened near Kansas Avenue on Saturday afternoon, as per CBS Local.

The driver was apparently not focusing and soon sped off of the northbound of the freeway. Then, the sedan hit a dirt embankment that sent the car airborne, CHP says. Besides the footage, a vehicle in the area captures the incident through a side-view mirror camera.

Similar road accidents reported

On the other hand, a woman who was a passenger died in a solo vehicle crash on Wednesday morning on Interstate Highway 680 in Pacheco, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to San Francisco CBS Local, the crash happened along northbound lanes of I-680 just south of state Highway 4 at around 10:25 in the morning. A 2003 Nissan 350z lost control and veered from the traffic lanes, and crashed the concrete center divider. The vehicle then turned back across all roads into the concrete sound wall, said the CHP.

A 20-year-old Milpitas woman who was a passenger in the car was killed at the scene, while the 22-year-old driver was taken to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek with serious injuries.

After notifying next of kin, the Contra Costa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office released the involved residents' identities. It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, as per the CHP. It is encouraged for anyone who witnessed the collision or the events that would lead to the accident to contact the Contra Costa CHP in Martinez, (925) 646-4980.

On the other hand, a man who died in a one-car highway crash over the weekend was identified by the Contra Costa Coroner's Office, Mercury News said.

Arick Lopez-Estrada was killed at the scene following a crash on westbound Highway 4 near the Port Chicago Highway exit, which happened around 10:38 in the evening.

The CHP has not determined the cause of Lopez-Estrada's loss of control of his 2012 Nissan Altima he drove.

CHP noted that toxicology tests would be released to determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the wreck. The cars veered off the freeway as well as into a metal guardrail and left debris strewn in the highway, as per the CHP.
