When is Father's Day 2014, Specials, Cards, Quotes: Ideas to Let Your Dad Know You Care
This year, Father's Day in the United States falls on Sunday, June 15.
Father's Day is one of the harder holidays to shop for, because most dads have everything they already need and probably what they want more than anything else is just to spend quality time with and be appreciated by his friends and loved ones. That being said, we all know it's still nice to give them something, if just a nominal token of our appreciation.
ABC has a list of Father's Day freebies and deals. Some of them are good if your father is a coffee drinker, for example: Starbucks is offering a $10 eGift card for $5 through Groupon that expires on Dec.31, 2014. For some good food deals, in case you decide to go out and eat, Boston Market is offering a buy-one-get-one-free deal on barbecue ribs. For a fast food or lunch option, Firehouse Subs is offering a free sub deal as advertised on their Facebook page. Check your local area's yellow pages and there's bound to be something that he will like.
Going out to eat might be a given, so another nice touch is to add a Father's Day card. We recommend homemade and here are some inspiring, touching, and funny quotes about the importance of fathers:
- "This is my most important role. If I fail at this, I fail at everything." - Mark Wahlberg, American actor
- "Fatherhood is great because you can ruin someone from scratch." - Jon Stewart, American political satirist and television host
- "I thought I would be more inspired to have all these new feelings to talk about, but I really just want to hang out with my daughter." - Jay Z, Shawn Corey Carter, American hip-hop artist and producer
- "When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry." - William Shakespeare, English poet and playwright
Whatever you do on Father's Day, make sure he knows how much you truly care. It might be hard but Father's Day comes just once a year.
