AMC 'The Walking Dead' Season 5: Comic Book Creator Robert Kirkman Addresses Spoilers, Talks Terminus
This week, Robert Kirkman, "The Walking Dead" comic book creator and AMC show executive producer and writer, shared some juicy details on Season 5.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kirkman said that it is "always extremely likely" that a main character will die in an upcoming season. He noted, however, that it is not more of a possibility this season than it was in previous seasons.
"We did pull back on the reins a little bit at the end of season four," he said. "We're definitely going to hit the ground running for Season 5, and we really don't let up very quickly at all. It's going to be a pretty fast-paced, intense season."
Kirkman also addressed some of the biggest alleged spoilers coming from "The Walking Dead" set: Glenn (played by Stephen Yeun) will die this season, and Seth Gilliam, "The Wire" actor who joined the cast this season, is playing comic book character Father Gabriel.
"I absolutely love it. It means people care, and people are paying attention. So keep those rumors flying," Kirkman said. "Every season we try to bring in new characters that add something in their own way to the cast, much in the way that Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) brought a new narrative and more character dynamics to the show. Seth Gilliam's character -- whoever it may be -- brings a lot of conflict and really cool character traits to the mix."
Kirkman hinted that some other comic book characters could appear considering how quickly the zombies chomp through characters "as I like to say in an ominous and foreboding kind of way."
Finally, Kirkman shared just a tiny bit of information on the ever-mysterious Terminus. According to Kirkman, there is no "formula" on how long the "The Walking Dead" gang will stay there.
"We're certainly not falling into, 'We're going to do eight episodes here and eight episodes there,'" he explained. "We'll be changing things up quite a bit and keeping people guessing. There's not going be any set pattern that people are going to be able to recognize."
Even Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, has had a hard time identifying any Season 5 patterns.
"There are astoundingly massive stories being told every week," she told GoldDery last week. "It's a very, very exciting season. It keeps you massively on your toes, and it moves very quickly. People will not be able to predict much. I can't predict much."
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" begins on AMC in October.
