ABC 'The Bachelorette' 2014: Sister of Late Contestant Eric Hill Shares His Andi Dorfman-Related Regret
Karen Tracey, the sister of Eric Hill, a contestant on Andi Dorfman's new season of "The Bachelorette" who died after the show in a paragliding accident in April, said she is okay with how her brother's last moments on the reality dating show were depicted.
Before being eliminated from the ABC show, Hill had a fight with Dorfman, calling her a "TV actress." Tracey is not offended that the show's producers decided to show the dramatic conflict.
"I think ABC handled the situation the best they could, and I'm fine with it," Tracey said in an interview with Life & Style.
According to Tracey, after leaving "The Bachelorette," Hill said he had a good time "but really felt bad that he made Andi cry."
Tracey also noted that the Bachelorette sent a letter to her family after the loss of Hill.
"Andi sent us a very thoughtful letter, all about her memories of Eric and their first date together," Tracey said.
"The Bachelorette" host Chris Harrison has shared that the show's producers previously considered cutting Hill's fight with Dorfman out of the episode.
"We all sat down and watched it, and it just didn't feel right whatsoever and it seemed inappropriate and a little insensitive," he told E! News earlier this month. "We adjusted according to just the mood in the room from all of us watching it."
Harrison added that he does not know whether or not "The Bachelorette" will show Dorfman and her suitors learning about Hill's death.
"We shot several things as it happened just to have it because once you move past that you can't go back and reshoot those types of things," he said. "You can't reshoot that moment, so we shot things and captured it not knowing what and if we would use anything."
