6 Inmates Considered 'Armed, Dangerous' Escape Jail Using 'Homemade Rope'
Six inmates escaped from a California county jail late Saturday using a piece of "homemade rope," sheriff's officials announced.
The Merced County Jail in California bore witness to the said jailbreak, the county's sheriff's office confirmed on Sunday afternoon.
The county jail staff believe the inmates escaped the prison at around midnight, as it was the time they were noticed to be gone from their cells, said a report from Fox News.
Under the authorities' initial investigation, they found that the inmates escaped through the roof of the California facility and used "homemade rope" to get down from the side of the jail, reported NBC Bay Area.
Police in central California are working towards apprehending the men.
Any additional information or updates about the jailbreak will be provided by the sheriff's office as it becomes available.
County Jail Escapees Considered Armed, Dangerous
The police warned that the prison escapees should all be considered armed and dangerous given their current charges.
Only one of the suspects was clear of harmful felonies while the others were charged for violent cases, including murder and participation in a street gang.
A report from ABC News said they are all Hispanic males in the ages between 19 to 22 years old.
They were identified as Jorge Barron, Gabriel Francis Coronado, Manuel Allen Leon, Andres Nunez Rodriguez Jr, Fabian Cruz Roman and Edgar Eduardo Ventura.
Barron is a 20-year-old from Atwater, California. His current charge is for violation of his probation. He stands 5 ft 5 in and 140 lbs.
Coronado is a 19-year-old also from Atwater. He was charged for attempted murder, gang activity, shooting an inhabited home, possession of a firearm and violating probation. He is 5 ft 10 in and 225 lbs.
Leon is 21 years old and resides in Vallejo, California. He was charged for assault with a firearm, street gang participation, evading a peace officers and other violent charges. He is 5 ft 10 in and 165 lbs.
Rodriguez Jr. is 21 years old, from Planada, California. He was charged for attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of a firearm. He is 5 ft 7 in and 145 lbs.
Roman is 22 years old, from Los Banos, California who was charged with murder. He is 5 ft 6 in and 145 lbs
Lastly, Ventura is 22 years old from Portland, Oregon. He was charged with possession of a firearm, participation in a criminal street gang and violation of probation. He stands 5 ft 11 in and 129 lbs.
All of them have black hair and brown eyes.
Officials Form Task Force to Track County Jail Escapees
A task force has been spearheaded by the Merced County Sheriff's Office in order to track down and apprehend the fugitives.
Reports have not yet clarified what exactly the "homemade rope" was made out of.
Anyone who has information about them or has seen them after the jailbreak was urged to approach the appropriate authorities and to call 911 immediately.
