U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly pardoned Death Row Records co-founder and former drug kingpin Michael Harris, who was also known as "Harry O."

The presidential pardon came after a secret campaign by rapper Snoop Dogg, according to a Newsmax report.

Snoop Dogg included Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and justice reform advocates to convince the outgoing president to make the move.

Reports said that White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has advised Trump against approving the pardon. However, Trump issued the pardon on his last full day in office.

Snoop Dogg rapped under Harris' record label in the 1990s with other rappers like Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur.

Harris Free

Harris is set to be released from a California federal prison on Tuesday after spending 32 years behind bars. He is now 59-years-old.

He was sentenced to prison for attempted murder and cocaine trafficking, according to a Daily Mail report.

Harris' family and friends arrived at Lompoc Federal Correctional Institution in a black Rolls Royce to welcome the former drug kingpin as he was released after being imprisoned since 1988. Harris was due to last until 2028.

Alice Johnson, who was part of the campaign for Harris' pardon, recalled the rapper asking her to tell Trump that he appreciated what he has done to some of their brothers, even if he does not release Harris.

Johnson said that he was asked by Snoop Dogg to convey the message to the president, which she was able to do about two weeks ago, according to a New York Post report

Harris has reportedly reinvented himself as an activist during his time inside the prison.

Advocates said that Snoop Dogg told them that they needed more leaders like him to get out and help lead the younger generation.

Snoop also asked former music producer and federal prisoner Weldon Angelos' help for the pardon campaign. Angelos was also known to be pardoned by Trump last month.

Angelos said that Snoop brought the case to him and he brought Johnson on board to help him with the case.

Harris Profile

Harris was known to run a multi-million-dollar rap music empire while spending sentence in prison after founding the parent company for Death Row Records for a $1.5 million investment.

Aside from his dealings with drug cartels, Harris ran some legitimate businesses, which include a theatre company. Denzel Washington benefited from this theatre company as this is where he got his break.

During his time inside the prison, he claimed to have reform himself while behind bars.

"Over 30 years ago, I was part of the problem. However, over the years I have repeatedly proven myself to be part of the solution," Harris was quoted on The Sun report.

Meanwhile, Trump is also reportedly pardoning rapper Lil Wayne after the rapper pleaded guilty to possessing a gold-plated handgun when his chartered jet landed in Miami in December 2019.

Kodak Black is also known to be included in the pardon. He was sentenced to 48 months in prison on federal weapons charges in 2019.
