Biden Speech Keynotes: COVID Relief Bill, Post-Pandemic View
U.S. President Joe Biden has vowed to get the country back on track when it comes to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, with measures including nationwide mask mandates, proper distribution of vaccines, and strengthening the testing facilities around the country.
One of the recent passed measure is the signing of the $1.9 trillion COVID relief package into law on Thursday, which marks his first legislative achievement since taking office in January.
The relief package allotted funding for stimulus check, vaccines, testing, and school reopening, according to an NBC News report.
The White House said that the $1,400 stimulus checks are set to be sent out to Americans needing it most as soon as this weekend.
"I believe this is, and most people do as well, historic legislation that is about rebuilding the backbone of this country, giving people who built this country a fighting chance," Biden said before signing the bill, as quoted in a report.
Biden was set to sign the bill on Friday. However, it moved to the White House more quickly as expected.
White House chief of staff Ron Klain said they want to move as fast as possible.

Vaccine Goal
Biden aims to get the vaccines out to all adults eligible to receive it, adding that he wants to get the country closer to normal by the Fourth of July.
Biden is set to announce speed vaccinations during his speech. This will include directions that all states make all adults eligible for doses by May 1, according to an Associated Press report.
The president will also announce steps to expand the number of places and categories of people who can administer the doses. This is in line with his goal to let Americans gather at least in small groups for Independence Day.
Officials, who are speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the president would announce the releasing of an additional 4,000 active-duty troops to support vaccination efforts.
Medical students, veterinarians, and dentists would also be allowed to administer the shots. In addition, more than 20,000 retail pharmacies and around 950 community health centers would be given more doses.
Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an initial guideline for vaccinated people, who can resume some normal activities.
The White House added that Biden will also discuss the operational hindrances of vaccine distribution, as well as the current efforts his administration is doing to increase vaccination.
Stimulus Checks
Individuals earning up to $75,000 and couples with incomes below $150,000 will be eligible to receive the $1,400 stimulus check.
Americans have last received their stimulus checks in December worth $600, according to a Newsweek report.
The COVID relief package has gone through a long process before its approval.
The Democrats agreed to drop a bid for a $15 minimum wage hike, restrict eligibility in income thresholds, and reduce the unemployment benefits to $300, which was originally in $400.
The stimulus checks would be sent through direct deposit as it is the fastest method. First paper checks would likely be released a week after the send out of stimulus checks.
Meanwhile, the first Economic Impact Payment cards will be sent on the week of Mar. 31.
