Ecuador's Third Health Minister to Resign Amid Coronavirus Pandemic Only Served for 19 Days

The resignation of Farfan came after came after the raid of authorities in the health ministry and a hospital in Quito, which is the country's capital, regarding the irregularities in the vaccination plan of Ecuador.
According to Aljazeera, Farfan was the fourth health minister under the current administration after replacing the previous health minister, Juan Carlos Zevallos, who resigned in February due to the emergence of reports about his participation in an inoculation effort at the nursing home where his mother is living. Also, Farfan was the third health minister to resign during the pandemic.
Moreover, Zevallos, who is currently under investigation for influence peddling, had also faced the possibility of impeachment in the National Assembly because of his alleged poor handling of the pandemic and an inconsistent vaccination process.
