4 Killed, Including a Child, in Mass Shooting at Southern California
A shooting incident at a business complex in Orange County, California on Wednesday night resulted in the death of four people, including a child, local authorities said.
According to Los Angeles Times, the spokeswoman for the Orange Police Department, Lt. Jennifer Amat, said the officers received a call at around 5:30 p.m. regarding shots fired at 202 W. Lincoln Avenue, near Glassell Street.
The address pointed to a beige, two-story complex building that contains several small businesses. When officers arrived on the scene, Amat said the suspect started shooting, prompting the police to return fire that wounded the suspect. Amat said the shooter was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
At the scene, police located multiple victims, including four who had died from their injuries and two other people who were hurt and rushed to a hospital for treatment. The identities of the victims or the potential motive for the shooting were not immediately disclosed.

Since the shooter was already in the custody of the Orange Police Department and the scene has been stabilized as the law enforcement was able to clear the two-story office complex, Amat said there was no longer a threat to the public, Fox News reported.
In a Twitter post, California Gov. Gavin Newsom called the shooting "horrifying and heartbreaking."
"Our hearts are with the families impacted by this terrible tragedy tonight," Newsom added.
In a statement, Representative Katie Porter said she is deeply saddened by the reports of a mass shooting in Orange County.
Porter noted that she would continue to keep the victims and their loved ones in her thoughts as authorities continue investigating the case. She added that she would continue to monitor the situation "closely."
NBC Los Angeles reported that authorities are still determining why the child was at the scene. No officers were injured.
