Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they are producing their first Netflix series under their Archewell Productions.

The Netflix series will be about The Invictus Games, which is a tournament for wounded veterans. Prince Harry founded the said practice in 2014, according to a CBS News report.

The docu-series will be featuring some competitors from Invictus Games. It currently has a working title, "Heart of Invictus."

The series will show all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses as they prepare for the said game, to be held in 2022.

"Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination and resolve," Prince Harry was quoted in a U.S. Magazine report.

Prince Harry said that he could not be more excited for the journey ahead, adding that he is proud of the Invictus community for continuously inspiring global healing, human potential, and continued service.

Deal With Netflix

The couple was reported to have signed in September 2020 a multi-year deal with Netflix to produce documentaries, films, scripted series, and children's programming.

This was eight months after their announcement to decide to step away from their royal duties.

The couple said that making inspirational family programming is important to them, being new parents. They added that Netflix will help them in sharing content that unlocks action.

The project will be directed by Oscar-winning British director Orlando von Einsiedel and produced by Joanna Natasegara, according to a People report.

Prince Harry will also appear in the said docu-series.

Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer of Netflix Ted Sarandos said that Archewell Productions is building an ambitious threshold that mirrors the values and causes that the couple holds dear.

Sarandos added that it has been clear that the Invictus Games hold a very special place in their hearts since he met the couple.

"And I couldn't be happier that their first series for Netflix will showcase that for the world in a way never seen before," Sarandos was quoted in a report.

Invictus Games

The fifth and annual Invictus Games were schedule in The Hague, The Netherlands in 2020. However, due to the pandemic, this was postponed from 2020 to 2021.

This was then rescheduled to 2022, still due to the pandemic.

The annual games started when Prince Harry visited the Warrior Games, which is a competition for wounded servicemen held by the U.S. Department of Defense.

He was inspired by the organization and got the idea to bring it back to the U.K., according to a Town and Country Mag report.

A total of 500 competitors from 18 nations will be participating in the competition.

The participants will be coming from the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, and New Zealand. There will also be participants from The Netherlands, Romania, Ukraine, Belgium, and the Republic of Korea.
