Jeremy Lin YouTube Video Spoof Shows How He's 'Changed, Bro' [VIDEO]
Now that Jeremy Lin doesn't have to worry about free agency this year, he's able to have a little fun.
The Rockets' center posted a spoof of the "You've Changed, Bro" video to his YouTube page, and it has already racked up a quarter of a million views. Posted under the video was a playful disclaimer by Lin, saying, "No workouts were missed while filming this video."
Lin was featured in the 4 minute and 58 second video along with Steve Nash, James Harden, and others. Viewers have rated the video with 11,184 "likes" as opposed to only 77 "dislikes."
In a tweet yesterday, Lin thanked those who participated in the video. "And a shoutout to my teammates @JHarden13 @patbev21 @TerrenceJones1, as well as @SteveNash, for their acting! #rednation #sorrysteve."
The video could easily be seen as a smart way for Lin to continue to market his image and boost brand awareness. It is not uncommon to see certain athletes building themselves around their own social media accounts as a way to self-regulate the way the general public perceives them, regardless of performance on the field or court.
Free agent NFL player and six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson is a perfect example of this. While Johnson was once among the best receivers in the league, he eventually leveled off as an average player. But despite his lack of success on the field later in his career, he maintained such a heavy presence on social media that he was still one of the most popular players on the team. Johnson spent 10 years with the Cincinnati Bengals before he was traded to the Patriots. He signed with the Dolphins in 2012 but was cut from the team following his arrest the following month.
Johnson has 3.6 million Twitter followers while Lin already has 1.1 million.
