T.I. Hot New Music 2014: Rapper Releases 'No Mediocre' Single Featuring Iggy Azalea [Listen]
T.I. released the first official single, "No Mediocre" featuring Iggy Azalea, off his upcoming ninth studio album "Paperwork: The Motion Picture" on Monday, June 16.
The female rapper of the moment returns the favor to the Grand Hustle CEO, who previously collaborated with her on "Change Your Life" off her debut LP "The New Classic." Consequently, many expect T.I.'s latest offering to become another summer hit following Azalea's smash "Fancy."
The DJ Mustard-produced track opens with electrified steel drums and a supporting bass line, undoubtedly giving the Caribbean vibe. The Atlanta emcee soon makes it clear on the catchy hook that he does not want anything less than the best: "Bad b****** only, ain't no mediocre hoe."
As he wants "Bad mamacitas, ain't no mediocre / Don't want no mediocre / I won't hit no mediocre," T.I. lays out very specific rules for his ladies -- he expects them to have flat abs and wear heels, and is willing to split the check if they fail to meet his high standards.
Appropriately, Iggy Azalea comes in on the second verse talking about needing a bad boy and wearing designer frames that cover her face. The Australian rapper then boasts, declaring herself as "Grand Hustle's First Lady" that all the men want her: "Everybody in the game want to give me a taste."
"I could change your life quick, stop playing with me / And if you ain't talkin' money what you sayin' to me," Azalea continues.
The accompanying music video, which was filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in May, is set to premiere on Wednesday, June 18. T.I.'s forthcoming album "Paperwork: The Motion Picture" is executive produced by Pharrell, and features further production by Timbaland and longtime collaborator DJ Toomp. It serves as the follow-up to his 2012 album "Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head," and is scheduled for fall release via Columbia Records.
As mentioned by Billboard, you can listen to the song on Sound Cloud.
