LeBron James Says Steph Curry Should Be MVP; Lakers to Face Warriors in Western Conference Play-ins
The Los Angeles Lakers main man LeBron James' pick for MVP is Stephen Curry. However, as CBS Sports reported, James also recognizes the possibility that this might not happen.
Their teams will be rivals, as the Lakers will start their title defense against the Golden State Warriors during the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.
Stephen Curry as MVP
The LA Lakers star, LeBron James, emphasized that if Steph Curry was not with the Golden State Warriors, the team will not be where it is now. He also mentioned that people should look at what he has done this year, especially when considering who the MVP for this year should be.
Moreover, LeBron also mentioned that sometimes, selecting the MVP is focused on who has the best record instead of who had the best season that year.
"And Steph has had, in my opinion, the best season all year," Lebron said in an interview with ESPN.
Last Sunday, Curry averaged 31.8 points per game, his career-best so far, and the second league scoring title of his career, ESPN highlighted. This record places him with Michael Jordan as the only NBA players to win a scoring title at age 33 or older.
The 33-year-old GSW frontman is also now included in the list of players with multiple scoring titles, MVPs, and championships, along with Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Wilt Chamberlain.

LA Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors
The LA Lakers currently occupies the No. 7 seed after its successful game against the New Orleans Pelicans (100-98) and Denver Nuggets' loss with Portland Trail Blazers (116-132).
The teams James played in his previous appearances had never entered the playoffs seeded under the 4th spot.
James alluded to his ankle injuries and the nine-week absence of his teammate, Anthony Davis, who is suffering a calf strain and Achilles tendinosis. However, he emphasized that he does not look at their seeding because "it does not matter."
"Obviously, we know we wanted to play a lot better this season, but the injuries took a toll on our team," James explained, adding that he is looking forward to the challenge.
Meanwhile, the fate of the postseason seeding of the LA Lakers will also depend on Curry's and the Golden State Warriors' performance on their bout at the Staples Center on Wednesday, 10 p.m. ET. GWS currently sits at the No. 8 spot.
Despite the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers ended the regular season on a high note, with a five-game winning streak, with James averaging 24.5 points on 50% shooting, seven assists, four rebounds, and 1.5 steals in his last two games, they would still need to win against the Warriors to secure their playoff spot.
The winner of the Warriors-versus-Lakers match will go against the Phoenix Suns, who are at the 2nd spot.
On the other hand, the losing team will be facing the winner of the battle against the 10th seeded San Antonio Spurs and the 9th seeded Memphis Grizzlies. The winner will be earning the no. 8 seed and a first-round matchup against the No. 1 Utah Jazz.
