An Oregon woman lost her life due to a shooting incident that stemmed from an argument over laundry. Authorities identified the victim as Alexandra Arb-Bloodgood, 29. Newsweek reported that Arb-Bloodgood was shot in the head by her brother-in-law on Sunday.

The incident happened at a home in 8000 block of North Newman Avenue in North Portland, Oregon. Officers responded at the scene at around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday after a report from a neighbor.

How Did the Oregon Woman Get Shot?

The Portland Police Bureau said the shooting incident resulted from an argument over laundry between the suspect Shane Finnell, 25, and his brother Jordan Arb, the victim's husband. Arb reported that Finnel threw a potted plant when they were arguing. On the other hand, Arb-Bloodgood was sitting on a chair on the patio facing away from the house. 

After the brothers argued, Arb emphasized that Finnel walked behind Arb-Bloodgood and shot the victim at the back of her head at a close range, using a revolver. When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the Oregon woman dead inside the home.

Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Sean Hurst confirmed that the cause of death of the Oregon woman was a gunshot wound in the head. The expert further noted that the bullet's entry point was, in fact, at the back of the victim's head. 

Law & Crime highlighted that a neighbor identified as Jacob Chow went down upon hearing the gunshot. Chow saw Finnell on the porch looking distraught, so he checked what was going on. 

The court documents noted that Chow asked where was the gun he used in the crime, and the defendant disclosed its location. 

Finnel was also the one who instructed his neighbor to call 911 while he was sitting in the front yard. Police noted that Finnell remained in his position until the authorities arrived and took him into custody.

"It's a shock of something that should never happen to anyone," said the victim's brother, Matt Bloodgood.

What are the Consequences Finnel Faces After Shooting the Oregon Woman?

Finnel was held in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center after the officers arrested him at the scene where he shot his sister-in-law. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree murder. 

"I did a horrible thing," Finnell allegedly told the officers while in custody. 

Law & Crime noted that the statement and the alleged admission of the suspect to the crime were spontaneous.

Newsweek reported that the Oregon woman was shot a day after Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell announced a joint effort with Multnomah County District Attorney to control the gun violence in the city. 

Meanwhile, the shooting that stemmed from a laundry argument marked the 32nd homicide in Portland in 2021. Among these numbers, 23 were reported to involve gunfire.
