5 Dead in the Ohio Mass Shooting
Upon arrival in the area where the mass shooting occurred, responding police found several dead bodies. Daily Mail Online reported that three people were found shot to death inside the apartment, while two people were found dead outside the building.
"Something brought somebody to a dead end street," said West Jefferson Police Chief Chris Floyd.
Floyd noted that horrible things like this do not happen in West Jefferson or small towns. He added that at this point, they are still trying to figure out whether it was a "robbery gone bad" or a different crime.
The chief pointed out that it was not a drive-by shooting since the apartment is at a dead-end street.
"There's no other way in or out, so it's not like there's a car randomly driving down the street," he said.
Authorities, who have yet to release any information on a suspect, noted that it could be a targeted event based on the building's location.
The West Jefferson police are leading the investigation on this latest Ohio mass shooting, with help from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
