School of Rock drummer Kevin Clark is dead after a motorist had hit him while he was cycling around Chicago. Jack Black remembered Clark as a "beautiful soul" and had tons of memories together.

The School of Rock star was riding his bicycle on early Wednesday, May 26, morning when he was struck by a Hyundai Sonata, according to a TMZ report.

Clark was rushed to the hospital. However, Cook County Medical Examiner pronounced the actor dead.

Clark started playing the drums since he was just three years old. When he was 12, he was cast in School of Rock playing the role of Freddy, who was the film's drummer in Jack Black's student band.

School of Rock Cast

Black described the news as devastating and had posted a photo of him and Clark reunited in 2018 when Black was playing with his band, Tenacious D, in Chicago.

The actor had also offered his love to Clark's family and the whole School of Rock community.

Rivkah Reyes, who was the School of Rock's bassist Katie, posted a picture of her with Clark with a caption saying that he was the big brother that she never had.

Miranda Cosgrove, who was the band's manager in the film, wrote on Instagram that she was saddened by the passing of Clark.

Cosgrove said that she will always remember his spirit and how he was kind to her.

School of Rock was Clark's only movie credit. However, he was reported to have continued playing and had recently formed a new band.

Clark's mother said she had received a lot of calls from his musician friends, noting that they were also in shock.

His mother had also mentioned how their jammer friends had recently lost their lives, adding that she hopes Clark is jamming with them in the sky now, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

Clark had landed the role in the film with Black despite having no acting experience. His drumming skills had helped him get the role.

A friend had invited Clark to join the auditions when they saw an ad on back pages looking for 10-12-year-old kids who can play an instrument in a movie with Black.

The same friend said that she remembered playing "Iron Man" with the film's guitarist Joey Gaydos, Jr.

His mother said that Clark had just shined at that moment.

Clark's mother can still recall how her son had gotten the part, saying that she was picking up pizza and had left Clark in the car a moment.

When she got back, Clark had asked her if she wanted to go to New York.

Meanwhile, Robbie Goldberg, Clark's roommate in Lake View East and bandmate in the Robbie Gold Band, said that Clark was motivated and loved to write songs.

Goldberg and Clark had met in high school and played Nirvana and Green Day together.

Goldberg said he was shocked to hear the death of his roommate and said that it was great working with him.
