Keith Urban now details the infamous feud between his fellow "American Idol" Season 12 judges, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

The pair's feud actually began in 2012 during the filming of the audition rounds, even before the penultimate season started airing. Ever since then, Minaj and Carey were seen going after each other all throughout the entire season of the singing competition series last year. As a result of their constant argument, neither of them was able to return for this year's run. To make matters worse, a shocking video of the two divas yelling, swearing and threatening one another was leaked online by TMZ in last October.

During his interview with Australian breakfast radio show "Fitzy & Wippa" on Nova FM 96.9 on Tuesday morning, June 17, Urban claimed that the "American Idol" producers were focusing too much on the two women's catfights, adding that their "'Jersey Shore' mentality" did not really have a positive impact to the TV program.

However, in support of his co-judging panelists, the New Zealand-born country singer explained that Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey were just "hoodwinked going into 'Idol,'" and "there was a concerted effort to make this incredibly frictious environment" that "made the show something it was never intended to be." He admitted that he "got along fine with both of them," despite their very visible hostility towards each other.

Meanwhile, when asked how he is still able to keep his youthful looks, the 46-year-old, who previously struggled with alcoholism, gave credit to him quitting drinking. "That had a reverberating effect, just getting healthy in a lot of other areas in my life, too," he revealed. Keith Urban has been alcohol-free since checking himself into rehab back in late 2006.
