Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul will be among the teams concluding the grand final of the Liga MX Playoffs 2021. The two teams will begin their fight for the trophy at the Corona Stadium.

The Guerreros have beaten Puebla in semis, while La Maquina had beaten Pachuca in the last four-round, advancing to the next stage, according to a Bolavip report.

The first leg of the Liga MX Playoffs in the 2021 Final will be played between Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul. It will take place on May 27 at the Estado Corona in Torreon. Finals will be broadcasted in the U.S. by TUDN, Fanatiz Mexico, and Fox Sports 2.

Santos Laguna vs Cruz Azul Predictions and Odds

Cruz Azul is eyeing to end a 24-year drought. It has also brought the team's run into frontrunner candidates to claim this year's Liga MX title, according to another Bolavip report.

However, the team has carried a 24-year streak of not winning any domestic league, giving them the pressure to finally end the course.

On the other hand, Santos Laguna has been dominant with 19 victories, while Los Maquina had claimed 16 wins, with 10 times tie. Santos Laguna's leading goal scorer in the Liga MX Playoffs with five goals is Eduardo Aguirre, while Cruz Azul's top scorer is Santiago Gimenez.

Oddsmakers have already shown their final match predictions, with Santos Laguna odds of +140, while Cruz Azul has +220. A tie would result in a +195 payout.

Cruz Azul is making its eighth appearance in a Liguilla final since the team's last win in 1997. The fight between the two is expected to be a tight contest, CBS Sports reported.

Los Guerreros will have the home-court advantage at the Estadio Corona. In addition, they are also eyeing to take to Mexico City for the second leg on Sunday.

Cruz Azul had ousted Pachuca in the semifinals with a 1-0. According to a Syracuse report, it has finished first place in the Clausura season with a 13-2-2 record.

The Santos Laguna lost 0-1 to Puebla in leg 2 of the semifinals. However, their 3-0 win in leg 1 had let them through to the final. The team has finished fifth in the Clausura with a 7-5-5 record.

The winner of the Clausura finals will be facing Leon, which is the Apertura winner in the Campeon de Campeones in July.

Liga MX

Last March, Liga MX had suspended play after round 10 in the 2020 Clausura between Club America and Cruz Azul due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Liga MX announced that the remaining games would be behind closed doors, with the league finally suspending all play.

In a statement, it said that the resumption of the team's play would be decided in coordination with the federal government's health official, ESPN reported. The suspension also included Mexico's professional women's league and the second division.
