'Jeopardy!', Alex Trebek Set Guinness World Record: Game Show Host Wins Award for Most Episodes Ever [Watch]
Alex Trebek, host of the popular game show "Jeopardy!" has just been included into the Guinness World Records. Trebek holds the award for "most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter" from Guinness. The honor was given to him last Friday for having hosted a total of 6,829 episodes of "Jeopardy!."
Alex Trebek, at 73 years old, is also known for his role on the classic trivia game show. "Jeopardy!" premiered back in 1984 with Trebek as the host. From that year up to the present, he has asked over 416,000 questions to the game show's participants. Trebek, for his part, said that he is not retiring as he is still strong and able to keep hosting the iconic show.
He expressed his intention to host "Jeopardy!" for a few more years or until he can no longer do it. Trebek declared to his fans that he will be in the show as long as he is enjoying his time and his skills have not weakened. The "Jeopardy!" host confessed that no one will be able to surpass his amazing accomplishment. Trebek stated that "The good news is as long as I keep hosting the program, I stay ahead of whoever's in second place and that makes me feel good."
Born in Canada, Trebek started his career as a newsman. He proudly said that he will place his Guinness Book of World Records certificate on the staircase that leads into his bedroom. Hanging it there will allow him to see the certificate every day. He thanked the millions of viewers who have kept on watching the game show for over 30 years.
As former winner Ken Jennings wrote in The Hollywood Reporter, "Nothing in TV lasts, but Jeopardy! is forever." In a video that accompanied his receipt of the "most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter" award, Trebek said that he was lucky to be part of "Jeopardy!."
