Taylor Swift Rumored to Join Anya Taylor-Joy and Margot Robbie in Star-Studded David O. Russell Film
Taylor Swift, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Margot Robbie almost broke Twitter as they trended together on the social media platform as May came to a close.
Based on the tweets that included the names of the unlikely trio, fans were going crazy as a recent report claimed that Taylor Swift will be joining the cast of the star-studded David O. Russell film. The movie is reportedly going to be called 'Canterbury Glass'.
It has already been confirmed that Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy and Suicide Squad's Margot Robbie would be part of the film. With Taylor Swift rumored to join them, fans were not able to hold their excitement, almost breaking the internet, Grazia Magazine reported.
The news was first reported on the website Showbiz 411. As the website reported the rumor that Swift will be joining the cast, a fan quickly shared it on the social media platform. This then led to thousands of tweets from fans of Swift, Taylor-Joy, and Robbie who are very hopeful to see the trio work together in a single project.
'Canterbury Glass' Cast, According to Reports
The movie, 'Canterbury Glass', will be Russell's first film in 6 years since 'Joy' in 2015. It has been mostly kept quiet except for the fact that it would star several Hollywood A-listers.
According to reports, it has been confirmed that joining Taylor-Joy and Robbie on the film will be Alessandro Nivola, Christian Bale, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon, Zoe Saldana, John David Washington, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, and Robert De Niro.
While the film has been very quiet and no plot details have been released, it was reported that it would be based on Russell's own idea. The film has started filming early this year and is currently still ongoing in California. The film was reported to be produced by New Regency's Arnon Milchan, Anthony Katagas, and Matthew Budman, according to Deadline.
David O. Russell Film
Russell is popular for his star-studded films, yet this movie's cast still tops Russell's known huge ensembles for his many Oscar-nominated films.
Russell has five Academy Award nominations of his own. He has two in 2014 for American Hustle, one of Best Directing and another for Best Original Screenplay with Eric Warren Singer. Moreover, his films and cast have also garnered several nominations across different categories throughout the years, including Christian Bale's Best Supporting Actor for 'The Fighter', and Jennifer Lawrence's several nominations.
Vanity Fair even pointed out that the film's lineup only missed Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence starred in Russell's last three films, which earned her an Oscar and two nominations. She was in Silver Linings Playbook, the movie in which she won an Oscar; and American Hustle in 2013 and Joy in 2015, which earned her nominations. However, Lawrence is not part of Russell's star-studded lineup for 'Canterbury Glass' since she is still filming a movie with Adam McKay called 'Don't Look Up'.
Showbiz 411 also stated in their report that Russell's star-studded movie would be a "period piece" set in the Depression.
While it has not been confirmed if Taylor Swift would indeed be part of the film, many fans have expressed their hope of seeing Swift, join Taylor-Joy, Robbie, and the star-studded cast.
