Chyna's Family Reacts to Nikki Bella's Apology for Calling the WWE Hall of Famer a 'Man'
The family of former WWE wrestler Joanie "Chyna" Laurer reacted to Nikki Bella's apology after a previous comment on the Hall of Famer.
Instead of getting mad, Chyna's family took to Twitter to defend Nikki Bella for what she previously said during her 2013 interview on "Fashion Police" with her twin, Brie Bella.
During the "Fashion Police" show then hosted by comedy legend Joan Rivers, Nikki Bella and her twin sister were asked to comment on Chyna's looks, New York Post reported.
Both twins answered that they could not figure out if Chyna was a "man or a woman." Joan Rivers added at the time that she "totally" agreed, and "her vagina has a penis." Rivers died in 2014 at age 81.
But Chyna's family defended Nikki Bella and even urged the public to stop attacking the WWE star.
"Nikki has apologized on her page and in private. It was sincere. Please stop attacking her," the official Twitter account of Chyna said.
The tweet noted that Nikki Bella's apology has been passed on to the WWE Hall of Famer's family. It also emphasized that there was "no hate or ill will."
"Please build each other up not tear down. Chyna believed in forgiveness," it added.
WWE Star Nikki Bella Apologizes for Calling Chyna 'a Man'
Nikka Bella said she's "sorry and embarrassed" for implying wrestling legend Chyna looked like a "man" in a resurfaced video of the said interview that recently went viral. Bella took to Twitter to apologize to the WWE Hall of Famer.
"I am sorry and embarrassed by my 29-year-old self, who offended Chyna and in turn, hurt her family and others," said Bella.
The WWE star further noted that she wished she could take back what she said during that time. Nikki Bella also urged her 3.5 million followers to learn from her experience. She said, "it's not worth hurting someone's feelings for a meaningless laugh."
Bella ended her apology by paying homage to Chyna, describing the WWE Hall of Famer as "an icon and pioneer" who paved the way for opening opportunities for women when it comes to wrestling, which exists today.
