Jason Alvarez-Cohen is a tech entrepreneur and Forbes 30 under 30 honoree. Growing up in Berkeley, California, Jason went to the University of California Los Angeles and graduated in 2018. After finishing his degree in computer science at UCLA, he became interested in entrepreneurship and started his own company. He is now the current CEO, Co-Founder and Chief engineer at Popl, a technology company based in Los Angeles. Popl is looking to create the next generation business card, and Jason Alvarez-Cohen is at the hand of continuing his true success.  

Jason got the idea to start Popl after coming across NFC technology at a party he attended in the Hollywood Hills. He was fascinated when someone used an old fashion NFC business card on him. His first thought was why do you even need to carry an actual card? Why not just let people have a simple attachment that would stick to their phone, allowing for phone to phone sharing in a tap. 

In February 2020, Popl officially launched with a TikTok that hit 80,000,000 views. While TikTok is still a major driver of the business, Jason claims that most of Popl's marketing happens on Facebook and Instagram. Popl also has an ambassador program that has amassed over 20,000 members all looking to get involved with Popl and help grow the product. When a new person purchases a Popl using an ambassador's code, that ambassador gets 25% commission, which then encourages the individuals to promote the product. 

Jason says that the company has many ideas and plans to continue to innovate and create features that add value to businesses and professionals. He says that they are growing quickly with individuals and Popl is now also focusing on the team level market with Popl Enterprise, their multi Popl management dashboard that is built for teams.
