Between Telemundo putting off its beauty competition show "Miss Latina Universo" and now canceling the Billboard Mexican Music Awards, the channel is certainly not making any fans.

The awards, which are more typically known as the Premios Billboard de la Música Mexicana, will be canceled because of the high cost required to produce the show in Los Angeles, notes La Opinion.

Telemundo, who was responsible for putting it together and then broadcasting the award show, has yet to speak out to either confirm or deny the rumors.

There have only been three shows held in the past, which served to honor singers from the Mexican area. This award show differentiated itself because it delved deeper into Mexican music. Instead of grouping everyone into one category, this show looked at banda, mariachi, grupero and other subsets.

This music is particularly popular with the Latino citizens of the United States.

The show was supposed to air in October.

Earlier this year, the 2014 Billboard Latin Music Awards took place in Miami and were aired through Univision.

The show was a great success with some of the hashtags trending in the United States. Artists like Prince Royce and Marc Anthony were big winners.

But it was still very different to the Mexican show, as different people went home winners.

At last year's BBMA's Gerardo Ortiz, Los Tigres del Norte and Los Inquietos del Norte were among the performers. While Jenni Rivera was the top winner.

Ortiz holds the record of the most awards won at the Billboard Mexican Music Awards with 17, and he collected Artist of the Year, Male; Songs Artist of the Year, and Norteño Artist of the Year. His album "El Primer Ministro" earned him the Norteño Album of the Year.
