Bucks Pull Off 20-Point Victory Against Suns in Game 3; Giannis Antetokounmpo's Another 40-10 Performance Carries Bucks Into NBA Finals' First Win
After dropping their first two games on the road, the Milwaukee Bucks redeemed themselves in front of their home crowd, as they dominated Game 3 of their NBA Finals series against the Phoenix Suns, 120-100.
The Milwaukee squad had been struggling in their first two games in Phoenix, but it was a different story in Game 3. The Bucks closed out all of the quarters strong at home, dominating the glass, and owning the paint on Sunday night.
According to CBS Sports, Giannis Antetokounmpo had played up to his "Greek Freak" moniker in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Giannis led the charge for the Bucks with a stellar performance, scoring 41 points on 14-of-23 shooting nights while grabbing 13 rebounds and 6 assists. He went 13-17 from the line as the hometown crowd wasn't counting during his pre-shot routine.
Also, Jrue Holiday added 21 points to keep the Bucks ahead. Bobby Portis also scored 11 points coming off of the bench for Milwaukee while staying aggressive on his defensive matchups.
Meanwhile, Devin Booker experienced one of his worst shooting performances of the postseason in Milwaukee. Booker only scored 10 points on a 3-of-14 shooting night on the road. Chris Paul had his usual numbers, 19 points, and 9 assists, but the Suns supporting firepower was short. While Suns' big man Deandre Ayton scored 18 points, 9 rebounds but struggled early in the second half because of foul trouble, Bright Side of the Sun reported.
Jae Crowder dropped 18 points, and shot 6-of-7 from three. However, despite his positive impact on the game, Phoenix could not survive the relentless pressure on the glass and their turnovers.
Phoenix is currently 1-3 in Game 3's this postseason while running 5-3 on the road. The Bucks moved their record to 8-1 at home in the playoffs.
The Bucks now trail 2-1 in the NBA Finals, which is much more manageable compared to a 3-0 deficit that was proven to be historically not achievable.
Giannis Antetokounmpo's Second 40-10 Night
In Game 3, Antetokounmpo dropped 41 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in just 38 minutes of action. The two-time MVP displayed an extremely impressive performance in front of the Milwaukee crowd.
Aside from propelling the Bucks to a Game 3 victory, Giannis Antetokounmpo made NBA history in the process. After finishing the night with 41 points and 13 rebounds, Antetokounmpo became just the second player ever to record 40-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in consecutive NBA Finals games since Big man Shaquille O'Neal.
Furthermore, Giannis also had his supporting cast in his back, Jrue Holiday had 21 points, nine assists and five rebounds, while Khris Middleton added 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists to secure the victory at home.
On the other hand, the home win was a big one for the Bucks, but the loss was obviously disappointing for the Suns team, which controlled the first two games of the series. However, neither team can afford to dwell on their past losses for too long as they have to prepare for Game 4 on Wednesday night.
