4 Icebreakers That Help Your Team Rebuild After The Pandemic
Vaccinations are being shot into the arms of millions of people everyday. Which means that we're all slowly going back to pre-pandemic life or 'normal life' as some call it. This means hundreds of employees will retire from working at home and head back to the offices as soon as possible. Some colleagues haven't seen each other in ages, that's why we think it's time to get the team spirit up to speed. Breaking the ice will be necessary, that's why we've come up with 3 ways to accomplish just that.
1. 10 things in common
This is a fun and fast way to reconnect. The aim of the game speaks for itself, you need to find 10 things that you and your colleagues have in common. If you're organising this game, split the team in multiple groups of 4 or 5. These groups have 20 minutes to find 10 things in common. These things can include: having a brother named James (I mean what are the odds), having once spent the summer in Italy, a movie they all love or owning a red t-shirt. You can circle around the groups a number of times and then get to work.
2. A trip to the city
What is a better way to get to know the team than to hang out with each other in a different scenery. Because hanging out with colleagues can be essential for team spirit. If you trust your colleagues out of work, you trust your colleagues during work. So go out and spend some time together. If you're organising this trip, make sure you arrange the transport. You can rent a van (Dutch: personenbus huren) for up to fifty people. If you only want to go with your own team, then you can easily rent a van for 9 people (Dutch: 9 persoons bus huren).
3. Baby pictures
This is the most fun icebreaker around. However, this does imply that each employee has to be willing to prepare this quest. The quest is for everyone to bring their own (physical) baby pictures or toddler picture to work. The organiser needs to collect all the pictures and number them. Then, all employees must guess which picture belongs to which employee. This might sound simple, but it really isn't. The person with the most correct answers, wins! And who doesn't want to win the grand honour. We do suggest buying some kind of price.
4. Office Trivia
Test your office knowledge! However, don't prepare questions like: who founded the company in 19 somewhat.. But think of super in depth questions which are impossible to correctly guess the answer. Such as: how many branded coffee cups do we have in the kitchen? What colour is the wall in the bathroom? Divide employees into teams and we're sure they'll get in the team spirit.
Ready for the comeback to the office? Prepare some icebreakers to make it easy on everyone.
