Kyrie Irving Trash Talks Nike—Saying New Kyrie 8 Sneakers Are Trash After Brand Announces Shoes Without NBA Star’s Approval
Kyrie Irving, the former duo partner of Lebron James in Cleveland Cavaliers, said that he is currently disappointed with his most popular sponsor, Nike. The issue between the company and the NBA star started after some leakers claimed that the shoe manufacturer would release the so-called Kyrie 8 Sneakers.
He even said that the new Nike shoes are definitely trash. The professional basketball player shared his thoughts on the latest Instagram post of a popular leaker, k11kicks.
"I have nothing to do with the design or marketing of the upcoming #Kyrie8, IMO these are trash! I have Absolutely nothing to do with them!" said Kyrie via k11kick's official Instagram post.
"Nike plans to release it without my okay regardless of what I say, so I apologize in advance to all of my sneaker heads and true supporters of the #KAI11 brand," added the NBA super-star.
Kyrie Irving Trask Talks Nike
As of the moment, the viral Instagram post was able to generate more than 4,800 likes. But, the statement of Irving even generated more, with around 6,800 likes.
Although this issue could lead to the separation of the basketball player and Nike, Kyrie's fans still supported him. The leaker and other commentators on the popular IG post said they would support him with his decisions towards the shoe brand.
According to Sneaker News' latest report, Nike always collaborates with its partner athletes before announcing a new sneaker model. This means that they will do brainstorming for the physical output, photoshoots, and other related activities that could boost sales.
However, in the case of the alleged Kyrie 8 Sneakers, it seems like Nike did not implement the proper process before releasing the designs. As of the moment, the company hasn't confirmed if it will talk to the NBA player. Irving also hasn't released any statement if he will sue the company.
Kyrie's Issue With Nike Is Common
Complex reported that the latest issue between Kyrie and Nike is not common at all. Recently, the sneaker brand faced another problem after it accidentally released the "Mambacita" Nike Kobe 6 Sneakers to various retailers.
However, Vanessa Bryant, the wife of the deceased NBA Hall of Famer, received the update. However, she confirmed that the shipment of the new shoes should not have taken place since the former basketball star did not approve the sneakers' sale and production.
