Golfer Abraham Ancer from Mexico won his first Golf Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) tournament, as he participated in the recent FedEx St. Jude International.

The golfer from Mexico won with the score of 16-under after 72 holes, as he faced a three-face-playoff against Sam Burns and 2021 masters champion Hideki Matsuyama.

Abraham Ancer's winning stemmed out when the third-round leader and 2013 champion at TPC Southwind, Harris English, was at 20-under.

"This is surreal," Ancer said, adding that his first PGA tour winning was a dream come true for him.

Apart from giving Ancer the shot when he faltered, English also gave way to a playoff against Ancer, Burns, and Matsuyama when he stumbled in the back nine.

English noted that he misread the wind, making his performance engage in a downfall when he made a double-bogey 5 at the number 11. English's loss happened as he was seeking the fifth title of his career.

Abraham Ancer closed the game with a 2-under 68 to match Matsuyama and Sam Burns at 16-under 264. Matsuyama was reported to shot a 63, while Burns shot a 64. Meanwhile, English was known to be at a stroke back after a 73.

On the first playoff at hole 18, Matsuyama notched a birdie to win the tournament. However, his stroke lipped out at the last moment. Meanwhile, Burns missing a short putt for birdie at a close range, made Ancer grab on the opportunity and made his putt for the win.

Matsuyama shared that it was tough losing at a playoff. However, the golfer noted that he did his best despite not hitting the fairways with "either a tee shot."

"I couldn't believe I was tied for the lead [on number 16]. I thought I was four behind. But you never know in golf," Ancer said, pointing out that it was surprising that he won the tournament.

Ancer's winning in the PGA Tournament made him out of being the best player in the tournament to have no wins. CBS Sports noted that the golfer from Mexico might be the best player on tour with just one PGA title with his performance.

Born in McAllen, Texas, Abraham Ancer, 30 years old, turned pro in Golf in 2013. He was also known to be a golfer from the University of Oklahoma.

Although his recent winning was his first PGA Tournament title, it was not the first time Ancer's wowed the crowd with his performance. The golfer from Mexico was known to finish as a runner-up on four occasions and 10 top finishes. Furthermore, he was ranked 18 in the FedEx Cup and had his current average score of 70.013.

This year, Abraham Ancer placed second in the Wells Fargo Championship and fourth in the Travelers Championship and Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
