The Suicide Squad Polka Dot Man Actor David Dastmalchian Explains Why Milton's Death Hit Hard
It is not if James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is a sequel to 2016's "Suicide Squad." Regardless, DCEU had a fun watching this new action flick with the new characters such as John Cena as Peacemaker, David Dastmalchian as Polka Dot Man, and Sylvester Stallone as King Shark, among others.
But most of all, the film did not shy away from killing supposedly major characters. Minor characters did a great job as many of the audience had an attachment with them. According to The Wrap report, one of the deaths that hit hard was Milton, whose death affected the fans and Polka Dot Man.
[SPOILER AHEAD]
Polka Dot Man was furious at his teammates for not even registering Milton's death.
The actor that played Polka Dot Man had two cents over the death of the beloved character. He said that he was nervous during the scene as he was worried about how he was going to do the scene.
The director, Gunn, told him not to do anything and perform it the way he would do it.
Meanwhile, other characters did not mourn Milton's death as much as Polka Dot Man. Harley Quinn does not remember Milton, while Bloodsport did not care about Milton.
David Dastmalchaian's Take on His Character
Dastmalchian said that he thinks Polka Dot Man's character is something that everyone can relate to in an intimate way.
He noted that Abner, Polka Dot Man's real name, does not feel like he has much to live for when he was introduced in the film.
The actor said that his Abner was the butt of the joke, noting that he has felt that way and everyone has felt that way, according to The Polygon report.
Dastmalchian, however, had managed to love his character despite being voted as the worst villain.
Polka Dot Man's talents have been altered a little bit from the comics for the film. Polka Dot Man originally has each individual on his costume hiding a shrunken weapon or tool.
He can launch a spray of polka dots from his hands that destroy everything it touches in the film. If he does not shoot dots at least twice a day, he breaks out in polka dot rash and vomits them out instead.
Abner has been turned into a physical freak when he spent a part of his adult life locked in Belle Reve.
In addition, he perceives every person as his mother.
'The Suicide Squad'
A team of criminals was allowed out for covert missions at the bidding of a government official named Amanda Waller, who Viola Davis played.
The film's concept has always been a team of criminals fighting, not because they want to save the world, rather it was because they were bribed and coerced, according to a Vulture review of the film.
The Suicide Squad was welcome with a huge $133.7 opening weekend at the North American box office despite the critics and audiences saying they were left unimpressed.
In its theatrical receipts, the film had scraped in $26.5 million in its debut weekend amid the pandemic, according to the Box Office Mojo report.
